Holmes County, Ohio, is home to the largest settlement of Amish people in the United States.
The gently rolling landscape is punctuated with neat farmsteads and well tended fields and meadows, bearing witness to the blossoming agriculture of the Amish, who use horses and mules for all their field work.
In 2008 this was the venue for Horse Progress Days, th world's largest demonstration of horse drawn equipment.
In capturing this event and the life of the community on film, Erhard Schroll, himself a horse farmer, gives us a brief insight into the religion, life and work of the Amish, as well as an overview of the variety of horses drawn machinery avaiable, and the range of possibilities for using horses in agriculture and forestry today.
